Worthing Film Club was founded in November 2007, by a group of Worthing film fans keen to see a wider range of films on show in their home town.
Worthing Film Club's debut screening was an Indian film, The Chess Players, this was followed by an early film by Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar. Heading across the Atlantic, Harvey Pekar's autobiographical American Splendor was then shown, followed by a stunning variety of world cinema.
Worthing Film Club prides itself on showing a diverse range of cinema, from classics such as The Hustler; shown at Slick Willy's Pool Rooms, as part of the On Location film festival 2009, to The Big Lebowski screened at AMF Bowling at the On Location Film Festival 2010, we screen modern cinema with new releases such as 'Moon,' and quirky world cinema such as 'Black Cat White Cat'
"Whether it's a Scotsman in love with a French photographer; an Amercian comic book artist; Romanian revolutionaries or eccentric Indian nobleman playing chess," says organiser Stef Sykes, "Worthing audiences are enjoying the best cinema from around the world."
